OUR  HISTORY

Moravec Johnson Funeral Home History

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

The David City location began in 1936 when Juke Beyers purchased the home currently in use for the Byers Funeral Home. He served the community until 1960 when Max Magee took over operations and renamed the business David City Memorial Chapel. Max expanded the business as well as the funeral home to its current capacity. In 1984, Joe Roberts purchased the home and the name changed once again to Roberts David City Chapel more commonly known as Roberts Funeral Home.

Joe and his brother Charles, owned and operated the home for nearly 20 yrs when the decision was made to sell to Mark Chermok, who had been working as a Full-Time Funeral Director since 2001. The transition took place in January of 2004 causing the name to change to Roberts-Chermok Funeral Home. Joe Roberts stayed on as a Full Time Funeral Director and Embalmer until taking full retirement on July 1, 2006. Once again, the funeral home changed to its current name to reflect the newest changes. The funeral home continues to serve all faiths, traditions, and styles with dignity, respect and reverence.
