Zita Marie Hook

Zita Marie Hook, 76, of David City, passed away on September 23, 2016 at Meridian Gardens in Columbus.

Zita was born November 30, 1939 to Peter and Olivia(Ebel) Birkel in Columbus, Nebraska. She graduated from St. Mary's High School. Zita was united in marriage to Dan Hook on June 5, 1982 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the PCCW. Zita was very active in Butler County and State Pro-Life programs. She enjoyed playing the guitar, knitting, and flower gardening.

Zita is survived by her brothers: Jim(Kathy) Birkel, of Anthem, AZ, Bill(Mary Ann) Birkel, of David City, and Max(Sue) Birkel, of David City; step-children: Jim Hook, of Riverside, CA, Bill(Anna) Hook, of St. Louis, MO, Don(Lori) Hook, of Omaha, Cathy Ray, of Bullhead, AZ, Diane Rehder, of Lincoln, Mary Ellen Hook, of Lincoln, and Jeanne(Mark) Masur, of David City; and many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband: Dan in 2010; and a brother: P. Michael Birkel.

Memorials have been suggested to Butler County Pro-Life.

A lunch will be served at the Presentation Parish "Marietta" church hall.
