Wilbur H. Fricke, 86, of Rising City, died Sunday, June 30, 2013 at BryanEast Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 4, 2013 at 10am at the First Lutheran Church in Rising City with Pastor Ron Lau officiating. Viewing will be Wednesday from 4 until 7pm at Chermok Funeral Home. The family will be greeting the public from 5 until 7pm. Viewing will resume one hour before the funeral service at the church on Thursday. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorials have been suggested to First Lutheran Church or Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Wilbur H. Fricke was born October 26, 1926 to Herbert and Elizabeth (Oldigs) Fricke in Rising City. He graduated from Rising City High School then joined the Army from 1945-1946. Wilbur and Naomi Glock were united in marriage on April 24, 1949 at the First Lutheran Church in Rising City. Three daughters were born to this union.
He was a member of the Kregger Legion Post #125 & VFW Post #5814, the Rising City School Board, and the First Lutheran Church Council. Wilbur was a farmer for all of his life. He taught Sunday school, and sang in the church choir. Wilbur enjoyed dancing and he especially loved spending time with his family.
Wilbur is survived by his wife: Naomi; Daughters: Mary (Wayne) Vanek of Lincoln, Janet (Milton) Bemis of David City, and Lisa (Mark) Nebuda of Rising City; Brothers: Eilert (Margaret) Fricke of Ulysses, and Wayne (Beth) Fricke of Santa Rosa, CA; Sister: Iona (Tom) Kobza of Lincoln; 9 Grandchildren: Lt. Col. Adam (Nicole) Vanek, Nathan (Jodi) Vanek, Seth (Kim) Vanek, Crystal (Eric) Stara, Tiffany (Trent) Maly, Josef (Maggie) Nebuda, Jenna (Ryan) Cattau, Jared (Amber) Bemis, and Jacob Nebuda and August Prososki; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Matthew Bemis.
