Wendel Otte

Wendel D. Otte, 73, of David City, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at David Place.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 10:30am in Redeemer Lutheran Church, David City with Rev. David Palomaki officiating. Burial will be in the David City Cemetery.
Viewing will be on Friday from 5-7pm followed by a 7pm Prayer Service all at Chermok Funeral Home. Additional viewing will be on Saturday from 9:30am to 10:30am at the church.
The family has asked that memorials be given in care of the family in lieu of flowers.
Wendel D. Otte was born on August 12, 1936 at Wayne, Nebraska to John and Opal(Miller)Otte. He graduated from Carroll High School in 1954.
He married Virgene Lichliter on March 9, 1958 in Rising City. Three children were born to this union.
Wendel farmed in the Rising City area for over 30 years and also worked at Becton-Dickenson for 36 years. He was in the National Guard from 1958 until 1964. He also enjoyed working at Selden Trucking for six years.
In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, especially Black Jack, fishing, hunting and annual trips to Las Vegas.
Wendel enjoyed his grandkids and attending their activities and sports events. He also loved working in his shop and with his AC tractors.
He was a member of the Rising City Fire Department for 34 years and an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in David City.
Wendel is survived by his wife Virgene, his son and daughter-in-law: Kyle and Bonnie Otte of Minatare, NE; Daughter and son-in-law: Kim and Dennis Jay of Grand Island, NE; 7 Grandchildren, one sister: Marilyn(Robie)Nickels of Norfolk, NE; Sister-in-law: Charleen Otte of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son: Kevin William; and one brother: Stanley Otte.
