Wayne L. Soukup, 67, of David City, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at his home.
Memorial Services will be Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2:00pm at Chermok Funeral Home in David City with Rev. Fritz Hudson officaiting. Private family burial of ashes. No viewing or visitatiion.

Wayne was born on February 16, 1942 to Raymond and Mildred(Chmelka)Soukup in David City, Nebraska. He graduated from David City High School and went on to receive a Bachelor of Art in Art History. He served in the US Air Force. He married Linda Johnson on Oct. 21, 1967 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They lived in the Lincoln, Nebraska area before moving to Columbus, Ohio where he obtained his Bachelors Degree. He moved back to Butler County to the farm in 1973. He was a farmer and in 1997 he went to work for the Department of Immigration and Naturalization, retiring in 2006.
He was a member of the Lincoln Unitarian Church. Waynes passion was reading, especially anything involving politics, history, science, astronomy, photography, art, and music.
He is survived by his wife: Linda; Daugthers: Esther(Jeff)Rathjen of David City, Tonia(Keith)Novak of Schuyler, two brothers: Kevin Soukup of Chicago, IL and Keith Soukup of Seward, NE; two sisters: Cheryl(Harry)DeWispelare of Fremont and Kathy(John)Smith of Beggs, OK.; three grandchildren: Justin, Kacey and Kate Rathjen of David City. He was preceded in death by his parents.
