Wandea P. Fiala, 88, of David City died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Funeral Services will be Friday September 30, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in David City with Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Interment will follow at David City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the David City Volunteer Fire Department or St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Wandea was born on August 20,1923 on the family farm near Garrison to Raymond and Clara (Hanner) Piers. After high school, she attended business college. Wandea was united in marriage to Raymond Fiala on October 31, 1946 in Carson City, NV.
Wandea was very dedicated to her family and community, especially her son Tom whom she assisted in living with muscular dystrophy. She was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church and the Republican Women. She also served on the David City City Council from 1986 to 1997. She enjoyed horseback riding and reading. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include a son Steve Fiala of Omaha; daughter in law Priscilla Fiala; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren as well as 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; sons Bill Fiala Sr. and Thomas Ray Fiala as well as an infant brother.
