Verna Mae Potter, 85, formerly of Rising City, passed away August 3, 2015 at david place in David City.

Verna was born January 30, 1930 to Henry and Emma(Joost) Nordmeyer in David City, Nebraska. She graduated from Rising City High School in 1947, and earned her teaching certificate from Midland Lutheran College. Verna was united in marriage to William Potter on June 5, 1949 at the First Lutheran Church in Rising City.
She spent most of her time raising her family and as a farmer's wife. Verna was the church secretary, a 4-H leader, and a scout leader. She was an accompanist for the church and many community events. Verna was a member of the Eastern Star and the church ladies groups, a supporter of the Shriners, and an amateur poet. She was very talented and creative, and loved to garden.
Verna is survived by her children: Charlene (Mike) Gregory, of Rogers, AR, Kristy (Ron) Iwansky, of Omaha, Carla (Rod) Crook, of Rising City, Dan (Jan) Potter, of Rising City, Ken (Laurie) Potter, of Rising City; daughter-in-law: Millie Potter-Vos; sisters: Esther Hoffman, Estella Mortensen, Viola Hall; 17 grandchildren: Barbie(Josh) Steinhurst, Bryan(Stacey) Gregory, Chelsea(Scott) Steager, Sarah Hansen, Deb(Matt) Fleming, Amanda(Eric) Kasik, Nicole(Clarence) Bruner, Natalie(Ben) Pearson, Brandon(Sarah) Iwansky, Scott(Rhiannon) Crook, Jordan(Lindsey) Crook, Craig Potter, John Potter, Kristin Potter, Theresa Potter, Taylor Potter, and Jenna Potter; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Emma; husband William in 2005; son: Randy Potter; infant daughter: Mary Ann Potter; brothers-in-law: Erwin, Carl, Carl, and Don.
