Sylvia Oborny, 98, of Schuyler passed away Wednesday January 3, at Schuyler Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Sylvia was born on July 15, 1919 to Vincent and Julia (Maliha) Fendrick at rural Clarkson, Nebraska. She attended school at Langley in rural Colfax County. She married Stanley L. Oborny on April 6, 1937 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Wilson.
Sylvia lived on the farm until moving to Schuyler in 1973. She worked at Schuyler Memorial Hospital and Grubbs Grocery. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Mary's Guild.
She loved sewing, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and growing flowers. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. Sylvia loved to bake, especially kolaches and delicious strudel. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and was always ready to challenge them at any game. Sylvia was a fun loving person that always had a smile and hug ready.
Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Larry) Peters of Schuyler, Son-in-law: Richard Husak of Columbus, 4 grandchildren: Randy Husak of Omaha, Kelly (Ernie) Schulz of Ozark, MO, Deborah (Scott) Cunningham of Omaha, and Becky Jedlicka of Schuyler. 8 Great-grandchildren: Scott Poppe of Lincoln, Ryan and Hallie Schulz of Ozark, MO, Tyler and Paige Cunningham of Omaha, Cole, Kyle, and Brady Jedlicka of Schuyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley on December 15, 1975, Daughter, Gladys Husak, 4 Brothers: Joe, Vincent, Rudy and Melvin Fendrick, 3 Sisters: Mayme Renter, Albie Sindelar and Lorraine Grotelueschen
