Stanley was born September 5, 1915 north of Rogers, NE. He attended Colfax County rural school and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1933. Following graduation he attended Radio and Refrigeration School. During his youth he worked in Schuyler and then in 1937 he took up farming. On May 22, 1938 he married Agnes Vavricek at the First Presbyterian Church in Schuyler and they farmed in the Rogers area until 1972 when they moved to David City where Stanley owned and operated the Gamble's Hardware Store for many years. Stanley was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Shipmate Mariners in Schuyler. He enjoyed traveling and being active as an Amateur Radio Operator. Stanley died April 3, 2011, at the age of 95, at David Place Nursing Home in David City where he had been a resident since June of 2009. Stanley is survived by his niece, Marilyn Heavican of Schuyler and a nephew, Roger Prokes of Marysville, MO. He is preceded in death by his wife, Agnes (12/29/1993); his twin brother, Edward and his older brother, Jerry. Family suggest memorials to First Presbyterian Church or Family Choice. Coffee and bars will be served at the church Fellowship Hall following the burial.
