Ruth was born January 30, 1909 in Stanton to John and Clara (Penn) Shocker. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1927 and taught rural school northwest of Clarkson for two years. She and Stanley Brabec were married on June 11, 1929 in Clarkson at St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. They farmed in the Clarkson area until moving to a farm north of Howells. Ruth was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, the St. John’s Altar Society, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Jolly Stitchers Club. She enjoyed quilting, baking, playing cards, playing the piano and reading. Ruth died October 23, 2012, at the age of 103, at the Stanton Health Center where she had been a resident since April of 2010. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Marian Wiemann; son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Janet Brabec; daughter-in-law, Donna (Mrs. Walter) Wiemann all of Howells; 15 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; four great great grandsons. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley (1982); son Raymond; three infant grandchildren; son-in-law John Wiemann. Funeral lunch will be served at St. John's Catholic School.
