Rudy was born November 5, 1917 in Cuming County, eight miles north of Howells, to Rudolph J. and Rose (Belina) Bazata and received his education at District 51 in Cuming County. He married Ruth Eusterwiemann on April 13, 1948 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Stanton County and they farmed north of Howells. Rudy served on the Cuming County Election Board and the Cuming County Extension Board and as a 4- H Leader. After moving to Howells he served on the Howells Museum Board and on the Parish Council including a time as president. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. John's Choir. Rudy was the Howells "Mr. Fix-it" and was very active in the community and church affairs. He loved wood working, but his first love was dancing. Rudy died November 21, 2011, at the age of 94, Parkview Home in Dodge where he had been a resident since October 2009. Rudy is survived by their four children; Jeannie (Mark) Beckman and Kathy (Steve) Baumert both of Council Bluffs, IA, Ken (Candi) Bazata of Lincoln and Dennis (Gail) Bazata of Randolph; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; two step great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn (Al) Wellman of Valley. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth (12/20/2005); two sisters, Josephine Schlautmann and Wilma Dvorak. Family suggest memorials to St. John's Catholic Church or Howells Community Catholic Schools Funeral lunch will be served at St. John's Catholic School.
