Rose M. Svoboda

Rose was born September 7, 1916 at Bee, NE to Fred and Agnes (Kastner) Kobza. She attended rural school near Bee before her family moved to the Schuyler area. Rose married James A. Svoboda on June 14, 1938 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. They lived in the Appleton area of Butler County for about three years before moving to the Kobza farm south of Schuyler where Rose still lived. She enjoyed refinishing tables, gardening and crossword puzzles. Rose died June 23rd, at the age of 94, at the Stanton Health Center in Stanton where she had been a resident since August of 2010. Rose is survived by seven children; JoAnn Hegemann of Howells, Rose Marie (Reynold) Vering of Howells, Delores (Terry) Smith of Columbus, Janet Abel of Lincoln, Richard (Linda) Svoboda of Schuyler, Jim (Suzie) Svoboda of Schuyler and Barb (Paul) Belina of Clarkson; 23 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; 5 step great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Wilma Stara and Eleanor Houska both of Columbus; one sister-in-law, Eleanor Svoboda of Bruno. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. ( 2/9/198); son , Kenneth (1/14/2006);4 sisters, Martha Rerucha, Mary Masek, Helen Welch, Agnes Fendrick; 2 brothers, Jim and Leo Kobza. Funeral lunch will be held at the St. Mary's Social Center.
