Ronald A. Raskey, 57, of Brainard, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City
Funeral Services will be Thursday, August 27, 2009 at 10:00am in the Brainard United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Brainard National Cemetery.
Family will greet friends on Wednesday, from 6-9pm at Holesovsky Mortuary in Brainard; Additional viewing will be on Thursday, one hour before services at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Brainard Volunteer Fire Department; Brainard Methodist Church or the WFLA Lodge.
Ronald A. Raskey was born on August 20, 1952 to Dwayne and Jenny(Hausner)Raskey at David City, Nebraska. He attended and graduated from East Butler High School in 1970. After his graduation, he worked with his dad and uncle in the Honda Motorcycle shop in Brainard. He was a member of the Brainard Fire Department, the WFLA Lodge and the Brainard Methodist Church.
Ron enjoyed motocross and stock car racing. He also enjoyed a wide range of music, and was an original member of the Greatful Dead Fan Club back in the early 60's.
He was in two auto accidents, with the last accident occuring in 1973 and leaving him disabled and in the care of his parents.
Ron is survived by his parents: Dwayne and Jenny Raskey; his sister: Diane Foster of Brainard; sister and brother-in-law: Susan(John) Danaher and a brother, Donald Raskey all of Lincoln. He is also survived by is aunt and uncle: Louis(Rose Marie)Helgoth of St. Libory, and uncle Edward Raskey of Bee, NE; several cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Edward and Bertha Raskey and Frank and Bertha Hausner and uncle Eugene Raskey.
