Robert Molacek, 73, of Schuyler, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Memorials can be directed towards Divine Mercy Parish-St. Mary’s Church.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Fr. Gerry Gonderinger officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. all at Svoboda Funeral Home-South Chapel. Masks will be required for the visitation and the Funeral Mass. All current CDC guidelines will be followed. Inurnment will be in the Schuyler Cemetery. Svoboda Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert Molacek was born on September 26, 1947 in Columbus, Nebraska to Lambert and Lucille (Dubsky) Molacek. Robert attended school in Schuyler and graduated from Schuyler High School in 1965. He then enlisted in the United States Army National Guard on September 23, 1966 and was honorably discharged on September 22, 1972. Robert worked for many years as the Assistant Manager at Dubsky’s IGA grocery store.
Robert enjoyed spending time out in his garden and canning his tomatoes. One of his favorite free time activities was being the drummer for the Czechlanders Polka band, where he used his talents playing drums, but also singing and speaking Bohemian. He enjoyed talking to people and especially loved reminiscing about the “good ole days” of Schuyler. Robert loved watching football and cheering on the Cleveland Browns. He was an honorary member of the Schuyler Knights of Columbus, and a past altar server at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He is survived by his sister Bonnie L. Platt of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; nephew RJ (Kelli) Platt and their children Payton and Londyn Platt all of Pleasant Hill, Iowa.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Paul, and brother-in-law Ronald Platt.
