Robert G. Litjen, 94, of David City died Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Memorials: St. Mary's, Aquinas, Aseracare Hospice, and Heart Association.
Robert was born May 12, 1923 to George and Nellie(Brochtrup) Litjen in Elgin, NE. He graduated from David City High School in 1941. Robert joined the Army Air Corp on December 2, 1943 and flew B-29s until the end of WWII. He retired from the Air National Guard after 33 years of service. Robert married Lucille Lux on November 27, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby.
He worked as the County Treasurer for 6 years then went to work for USDA as an office manager. Robert has been a member of the Kregger Legion Post #125 since 1946, and was a 3rd Degree Knight.
He is survived by sons: Mike(Karen) Litjen, of Springfield, NE, Jerold(Sally) Litjen, of Friendswood, TX, and Thomas Litjen, of Falls Church, VA; 9 grandchildren: Allison, Todd, Brent, Bryce, Ryan, Ben, Grant, Parker, and Banks; 7 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Roberts is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Lucille in 2014; and 5 sisters: Elizabeth, Adela, Katherine, Laurine, and Rose Mary.
