Rita A. Homan

Rita A. Homan, 96, of David City passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday May
21, 2023.

Public viewing will be held Thursday, May 25, at St. Mary’s Church in David City from 5-7pm with
a rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held at Presentation Parish (Marietta) in Bellwood, NE, on
Friday May 26, at 10am with burial immediately following at the parish cemetery.

Rita was born in Cedar Rapids, NE, to Henry and Pauline Schuele. She had 4 sisters and
one brother who all preceded her in death. Rita graduated from Cameron High School in Missouri and from St. Margaret’s Nursing School in Kansas City, Kansas. She met Art Homan at
the Oak Ballroom in Schuyler. They were married in May of 1956 at St. Bonaventure Church in
Columbus, NE. Art and Rita had five daughters: Donna, Patricia, Theresa, Rose Ann, and Susan.

She loved her career as a registered nurse and worked in hospitals in Kansas City, Columbus,
Schuyler, and David City. She retired after 27 years at the Butler County Health Care Center and
was one of the initial “Honoring the Past” inductees in 2020. She enjoyed baking, crocheting
and spending time with her family.

Rita is survived by four daughters: Patricia (Darral) Marquis; Theresa Homan; Rose Ann (Eric)
Sverdrup; Susan (Kent) Bieker, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Art, and daughter, Donna.
