Richard J. Topil, 82, of Rising City, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 2, 2013, 2:00pm at United Methodist Church, Rising City with Pastor Pat Norris officiating.
Burial will be in Circle Mound Cemetery with military graveside honors by Kregger Legion Post 125/VFW Post 5814 of David City. Masonic rites by A.F. & A.M. Fidelity Lodge #51 of David City.
Family will greet friends on Thursday, from 5-7pm at Chermok Funeral Home, David City. Additional viewing will be Friday, 1-2pm at the church.

Richard Joseph Topil was born on June 29, 1931 on the farm north of Rising City to Joseph and Lillian(Zavodny)Topil. He attended many one room schools in the Rising City area and graduated from Rising City High School in 1949. Richard served in the 35th Army Infantry during the Korean Conflict.
Richard was united in marriage to Laura Mae Skinner on May 20, 1955 at the United Brethren Church in Shelby. One son was born to this union. He was employed at Charlie Augustin Feedlots, D.D. Davis Chevrolet, Behlen Manufacturing, Kuhn Oil Company and Bellows Outdoor Advertising.
He loved stock car racing and will be remembered driving blue and white 11T at various race tracks throughout eastern Nebraska in the 1950's and 1960's. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting license plates, depression glass and going to auctions. Other hobbies he enjoyed included hunting, fishing and following Husker sports.
Richard is survived by his son Roger and wife Bonnie(Otte) and two granddaughters: Kimberly and Kristy Topil of Rising City. Three brothers: Tom Topil, Joe Jr(Carol)Topil, Steve(Sue)Topil all of Rising City; brother-in-law, Larry(Pam)Skinner and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Laura in 1996, two brothers: Harry and Gary Topil and sister-in-law: Jolene Topil.
