Richard S. Longenecker, 82, of David City, died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Butler County Health Care Center in David City. Services will be held at 10:00am Monday, December 10, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Manilla, Iowa, on Monday, December 10, 2007 at 3:30pm. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-6:30pm followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary all at the church.
Richard was born on September 12, 1925 to Everette and Helen (Huston) Longenecker at Jefferson, Iowa. He married Delores Wagner on Sept. 24, 1947 at Manning, Iowa. He moved to David City, Nebraska in 1971 to take the job as an USDA Inspector. He was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus and served in the US Army during WWII.
Survivors include: Wife: Delores; Sons: Rick(Jeannie) of Maryville, MO; Kellen(Jeannie) of Papillion, NE; Kent(Michelle) of David City; Brent(Tina) of Topeka, KS; Daughters: Carol(Adriaan) Deuninck; Deb(Gary) Dumas and Ann(Kevin) Kirmse all of Topeka, KS. One brother: David(Arleta) of Palisade, CO; one sister: Lesta Jane Broshar of Independence, MO. 24 Grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Martin Scott and two brothers: Billie and Bruce.
The family has asked in LIEU OF FLOWERS that memorials be given in care of the family.
