Richard Joseph Kucera, 84, of Bruno, passed away peacefully March 4, 2015 in Lincoln.
He was born July 4, 1930, the son of Joseph and Julia (Rech) Kucera. Richard was raised on a farm near Brainard, Nebraska, and was a graduate of Brainard High School. He served two years in the U.S. Army, and was stationed overseas in Germany.
Upon his return from the service, Richard came back home to farm. On October 20, 1956, he married the love of his life, LaVerne Zetocka; they were inseparable until his death.
Richard and LaVerne began their married life together on the Kucera family farm. He was a marvelous role model to his family as he was a loving husband and devoted father of four children. Richard was an honest, kind-hearted, hard-working man who would drop anything at a moment's notice to help out a family member or friend. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, music, family vacations, and anything involving family and/or friends. Richard was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Brainard Rejda Legion Post #273.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, LaVerne; daughters: Marla (Ted) Bailey of Lincoln, Ronda (Doug) Masek of Valparaiso, RoxAnne (Larry) Epp of Lincoln; son: Warren (Marie) Kucera of Lincoln; 5 grandchildren: Natalie Masek, Leslie Masek, Olivia Epp, Jackson Epp, and Rylan Kucera; and sister: Alice (Kucera) Liska of Lincoln.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; and brother: Joe Kucera.
