Raymond E. Janak, 87, of David City, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Bryan/LGH West Hospital in Lincoln.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 17, 2011 at 10:00am in St. Mary's Church with Fr. Bernard Kimminau officiating. Burial will be at 1:00pm at St. Mary's Cemetery, Omaha(36th and Q Streets) Viewing will be Monday from 9:00am until 10:00am in St. Mary's Church with a 9:30am parish rosary also at the church.

Raymond E. Janak was born on January 9, 1924 on the farm south of Bruno. As a young lad, he moved to Omaha where he lived until coming back to the David City area in 2001. He married Eleanor Stangl on May 7, 1971 in David City.
In Ray's younger years, he worked as a hired farm hand in the Butler County area and he later became an over the road truck driver for Wayne Feeds(later known as Allied Mills)for many years. He then worked in maintenance at School District 66 (Westside) in Omaha.
He was a member of the Eagles Club in Omaha and St. Mary's Church in David City. He was a big Husker fan following the Big Red on TV and radio. Ray was also an avid gardener, enjoyed fishing and watching baseball games either in person or on TV. He and Eleanor loved to travel visiting the children in California and Michigan.
Raymond is survived by his step-daughter: Mary Ann Tetiva of Morgan Hill, CA; step-daughter-in-law: Judy Blaha of Roswell, NM; nieces: Marci(Don)Howe of David City; Arlene Rea of Ignacio, CO; Delores(Louis)Johnson of Omaha; Carolyn(Leonard)Dvorak of Brainard and MaryEllen(Matt)Sortino of Bellevue. 2 Step-grandchildren: Timothy Tetiva and Jamie Blaha.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Eleanor in 2004, two brothers: Rudy and Theodore Janak; two sisters: Mrs. Joe(Ludmila) Rejda and Mrs. Frank (Clara) Rejda and step-son: James Blaha.
