Ramona J. Youngberg, age 86 of David City, passed away on Wednesday August 24, 2011 at St. Joseph Villa in David City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday August 27, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City with Fr. Bernard Kimminau as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in David City.
Visitation will be on Friday from 2 until 5 PM at Chermok Funeral Home in David City and after 6 PM at the church with a 6:30 PM PCCW Rosary. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church.
Ramona “Mona” Kearney Youngberg was born in David City, Neb. July 29, 1925 and passed away at St. Joseph’s Villa on August 24, 2011. She was the youngest of eight children born to Lawrence and Anna (Zegers) Kearney. She married Gustave A. Youngberg February 23, 1963. After graduating from David City High School, Ramona worked in Omaha during WWII. She spent a portion of her career assisting doctors and the David City Hospital. Gustave and Ramona owned and managed Youngberg Motors until 1983.
She is survived by daughter Ann Youngberg McFall, Lincoln; sister Alice Kearney Vandenberg, David City, sister-in-laws Loretta Wondercheck Chubb Kearney, David City; MaryAnn Youngberg Meister Duke, Omaha, NE; and nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gustave A. Youngberg and son-in-law Scott A. McFall. In addition, she is also preceded in death by parents Lawrence and Anna Kearney; brother and sisters James Kearney, Leona Beckius, Dorothy Plummer, Catherine Callaghan, Margaret Kearney, Elizabeth Ryan; sister in-law Betty Youngberg Jones and in-laws Gus and Hazel (Tschudy) Youngberg.
Ramona was very active in the David City community. She spent numerous hours volunteering for Red Cross Blood Bank, American Cancer Society, St. Joseph’s Villa & Court, David Place, St. Mary’s PCCW and Guild, VFW Auxiliary and many other organizations, events and individuals.
