Peggy R (Thompson) Kaufmann, 89, of David City, Nebraska died on Thursday, August 29, 2024. 

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 14 at 11am at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in David City. Lunch will follow in the Church basement. Private family burial in the Columbus Cemetery.

 Memorials may be directed to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Future Generations Foundation, or Donor's Choice. Plants are preferred in lieu of flowers and statues  

 Peggy Ruth Kaufmann was born late September 8, 1934 to Leslie and Ruth (Compton) Thompson on the family farm in Blair, Nebraska. Her birth was registered the next day on September 9. Her parents died in separate accidents when she was 4 months old and 3 ½ years old. She was raised with her sister, Jeanne, on the farm north of Blair by their paternal grandparents, Frank and Elnora Thompson, after their father died. She attended grade school at rural Pleasant View and graduated from Blair High School in 1951 and then attended Dana College in Blair for one year before entering the University of Nebraska College of Nursing in Omaha. She graduated in 1955 and married Jack Kaufmann in June 1955 at First Methodist Church in Blair. Three children were born to this union. 

During her lifetime she taught Sunday school, served as communion steward and was president of the United Methodist Women and Financial Secretary at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. In the early years, she served as State treasurer of the Nebraska Medical Auxiliary and as President of the Platte County Medical Auxiliary. She served as President of the PEO Sisterhood and regent of the David City Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She served on the David City Board of Education for 17 years. She was the Assistant Director of Nursing at David Place for 25 years. Peggy enjoyed the love, kindness, and friendship of her family and friends and had a strong faith in the Lord. 

Peggy is survived by her three children; Susan (Chuck McLaughlin), Ann (Rodney Thiemann) and Peter (Sherri Shaver), 11 grandchildren; Jason Thiemann, Aaron McLaughlin, Amy Thiemann Leal (Carlos), Adam McLaughlin (Erin), Andrew McLaughlin (Lindsey), Tyler Kaufmann, Benjamin McLaughlin, Nicholas Kaufmann Mamisashvili (Ani), Sarah Thiemann White (Tom), Seth Thiemann, Jake Kaufmann (Hannah), and five great grandchildren; Mabel McLaughlin, Theodore Kaufmann, Briar McLaughlin, Sofia and Cecilia Leal. She is also survived by her niece, Peggy Tripp Leehy (Don), three nephews Tim Tripp, Patrick Tripp (Kathy), Leslie Tripp and many great nieces, great nephews and good friends. 

Peggy was preceded in death by husband, Dr. Jack Kaufmann in 2018, parents, grandparents, sister, Jeanne Tripp and brother-in-law, Bill Tripp.
