Paul Ehlers, 84, of David City, passed away April 24, 2017 at david place in David City.
Paul was born December 7, 1932 to Christian and Ida(Bahr) Ehlers near Utica, Nebraska. He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1950. He joined the US Navy on December 5, 1951 and served until September 24, 1953. He was united in marriage to Shirley Luethke on May 25, 1957 in Staplehurst. Paul worked as a Lineman and Switchman for Lincoln Telephone Company until retirement.
He was a member of the David City Volunteer Fire Department for 33 years, and a member of the VFW #5814. Paul was a volunteer driver for the Senior Center after retirement. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his lawn, fishing, and time with his family, grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter.
Paul is survived by his wife: Shirley Ehlers; children: Chris(Doug) Hampl, of Prague, Suzi(Chuck) Zelasney, of Columbus, Scott Ehlers, of Camarillo, CA, Janet(Paul) Schopke, of Pender, and Paula Egr(Josh Grape), of Bellwood; sister: Georgene(Welden) Duer; sister-in-law: Ethel Ehlers; grandchildren: Lindsi McNair, Kyli Benson, Dana Ehlers, Rachel Schopke, Sarah Schopke, Eric Schopke, Aubrey Egr, and Kali Egr; great-granddaughter: Gabby Swanson; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter: DeAnn Marie; and siblings: Vern, Marie, Lillian, Harold, Mildred, Chris, and Robert.
