Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, at Immaculate Conception Church in Ulysses. Visitation will be on Friday, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Church with a Parish Rosary at 7 p.m. Burial will be in Ulysses Catholic Cemetery with lunch following at the Ulysses Community Hall. Chermok Funeral Home is handling arrangements for Patrick's family.
The family has requested that IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, PLANTS, and STATUES, memorials be directed to family wishes for a later designation.
Patrick Gerald Osmera was born on June 29, 1952, in David City, Nebraska to Gerald (Jerry) and Celesteen (Sally) (Prochaska) Osmera and passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska on March 1, 2024, at the age of 71.
Pat grew up on a small farm on the south side of Ulysses, Nebraska. He attended Ulysses Elementary School, Seward Jr High, and Aquinas High School and was in the graduating class of 1970. After graduation he helped his dad with farming and went on to work at the Ulysses COOP. At this point in his life, he met Judy Vrbka they began dating and he knew she was his better half, and this proved to be true as they were married on February 9, 1974, at St Vincent de Paul in Seward, Nebraska. To this union two children were born Jessica Lynn and Aaron Michael.
Pat went on to start his full-time career at Hughes Brothers Manufacturing in Seward, Nebraska where he maintained employment for almost 40 years until his retirement. During this time, he was also a member of the Ulysses Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years.
Pat was a member of the Ulysses Men’s Fast Pitch Softball Team. He was also a member of a bowling league for many years. One of his favorite hobbies included trapshooting which he started when he was young and decided to try again later in life and proved he still could hold his own. He would travel to many competitions and even qualified for the Cornhusker State Games. Pat enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling with friends and family. He was also an avid Husker fan. Lastly, he loved his two granddaughters Kaydence and Reagan. He was happy to know Kaydence was pursuing her nursing degree. He was so excited for Reagan’s high school graduation coming up in May.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Monica Osmera, and an infant brother.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife Judy Osmera, Ulysses; daughter Jessica Asmus and husband, Scott, Elkhorn, Nebraska; son Aaron Osmera, Ulysses; two granddaughters Kaydence and Reagan Asmus Elkhorn, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, cousins, and more friends than he could ever count but each one meant the world to him.
