Orletha Luella Hlavac was born August 2, 1928 to Adolph and Elsie (Fricke) Hlavac near Bruno NE, the 7th of 10 children. She attended country school through the 8th grade. She then went to work as a farm hand for several years for area farmers, most notably Steve and Helen Macholan of Linwood. She also worked in Rapid City SD and later in Lincoln where she operated Spencer's Cafe and was a hostess at The Steakhouse. It was there that she met her future husband, Oscar Dvorak of Brainard.
They were married November 15, 1951 and lived their entire married life in Brainard. Oley was a homemaker, but did manage and operate Countryside Cafe, located in the truckstop she and Oscar owned until 1996 when she had her first aneurysm.
They adopted a daughter, Debra Ann and had a son, Steven Oscar, one year later. Oley was active in her children's lives. She enjoyed making treats for school and dressing up for Halloween to deliver those treats. She was a persuasive salesman for the Brainard Festival Raffle tickets. And we mustn't forget her perfume. She always smelled heavenly and you always knew it was Oley.
Oley was preceded in death by her husband of 50 yrs, Oscar, in 2002, her parents, brothers Norman, Harold, Duane, Merle "Butch", Valerian "Tom" and sisters Ilene Northup, Delphine Rejda, and Mae Petrzilka.
She is survived by her daughter & husband, Debra and Larry Dauel of Malmo, Son Steven of Lebanon MO, grandchildren Darrick (Rachel) Urbanek of Rochester MN, Andrea (Eric) Svoboda of Brainard and Bryce and fiance Corey of Kearney and a great- granddaughter, Madeline Urbanek.
Also surviving are step-grandsons Torrey Dauel of Papillion and Aaron(Brenda) Dauel of Omaha and a step great granddaughter Addison Dauel.
