Norma was born on August 22, 1933 in Colfax County to Albin and Josephine (Dlouhy) Shonka. She attended school in rural Colfax County and graduated from St. Bonaventure School in Columbus in 1951. On September 30, 1953 she married LeRoy Svehla at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler. They made their home on a farm south of Clarkson until 1994 when they moved to Schuyler. Norma was a homemaker and helped with catering for many years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler, a quilt club, Clarkson Altar Society, and belonged to numerous card clubs. She loved quilting, gardening, crocheting, spending time with her family, playing cards, listening to Polka music and socializing with her friends. Norma also had a love for angels and had a collection of angels. Never one to stop learning, Norma received a laptop computer in 2010 and learned how to use the various benefits including using skype and sending and receiving e-mails. She also learned how to text on a cell phone. Norma is survived by two sons: Dean (Deb) Svehla and Dale (Holly) Svehla, both of Clarkson; three daughters: Donna Neill of Berkley, MI; Deb Stevenson of Silver Creek and Diane (Cory) Podany of Lincoln; one sister: Lorene Svatora of Schuyler; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband LeRoy in 2005, brothers Lambert and Kenneth and a son-in-law Stephen Neill. The family suggests Memorials be made to Family's Desires.
