Naomi R. Fricke, 97, formerly of Rising City, passed away October 3, 2024 at David Place in David City, Nebraska.
Naomi was born September 25, 1927 to Miller and Jessie(Lehr) Glock in Rising City. She graduated from Rising City High School in 1944. On April 24, 1949 she married Wilbur Fricke at the First Lutheran Church in Rising City. Three daughters were born to this union. For all 64 years of their marriage, she was a farmer's wife and helped on the farm. She started working as a secretary for Rising City Insurance Agency in 1970 and worked there until she was 70 years old. Naomi was a member of the Pleasant Hill Cemetery Board, and a member of the Women's Auxiliary Group in Rising City.
Naomi was a member of First Lutheran Church in Rising City. She was often found behind a piano or organ. Naomi was the church organist, and accompanied for the Rising City Schools Music Department, and played for weddings, funerals and taught lessons. When she was younger, she would ride a bus to Omaha to take organ lessons. Naomi was a huge fan of Husker Sports, and also enjoyed attending sporting events of her kids and grandkids. She loved her cats and dancing with her husband.
While Naomi was in the nursing home, she was cared for by 2 of her great granddaughters. They would say prayers together as they tucked her into bed.
Naomi is survived by her daughters: Mary(Wayne) Vanek of Lincoln, Janet Bemis of David City, and Lisa(Mark) Nebuda of Rising City. Grandchildren: Lt. Col Adam(Nicole) Vanek, Nathan(Jodi) Vanek, Seth(Kim) Vanek, Crystal(Eric) Stara, Tiffany(Trent) Maly, Jared(Shannon) Bemis, Josef(Maggie) Nebuda, Jenna(Ryan) Cattau, Jacob(Shayla) Nebuda; 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Wilbur in 2013, her parents; brother: Clarence Glock; sister: Genevieve Sinclair; son-in-law: Milton Bemis; and grandson: Matthew Bemis.
