Michael Robert Schroeder, 72, of Ulysses, passed away January 3, 2019, in the comfort of his home.
Michael was born January 8, 1946, to Reinhold and Frieda (Reinboth) Schroeder in Columbus, Nebraska. He graduated from David City High School in 1964 and earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration in 1969. He was drafted into the US Army, where he served for more than two years, including one year of service in Vietnam. On April 12, 1980, he was united in marriage to Diane Steiner.
Michael was a farmer and also worked for many years at Loup Public Power District. He enjoyed working outdoors, watching sports, reading mystery novels, singing in the Good Old Gospel Singers and Butler County Community Choir, and playing the guitar for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Diane; children Paul (Jennifer) Schroeder of Garrison and Sarah Schroeder of Washington, DC; sisters Barb (Tom) Barlean, Dianne (Don) Klingemann, and Mary Kobza; and many nieces and nephews.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Mary Ann Steiner; and a brother-in-law, Norm Kobza.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Butler County Health Care Center’s Future Generations Health Care Foundation.
