Mervin Haase, 81, of Howells passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at his home in Howells surrounded by his family.

Mervin Roy Haase was born on March 17, 1938 in Bancroft, Nebraska to Erwin and Olivia (Leimer) Haase. He graduated from Bancroft High School in 1956. Mervin served in the United States Army and National Guard from 1961 to 1965. While dining at the Gem Café in Wisner he met the love of his life, Doris Peters. The couple later married in West Point on December 20, 1961.
Mervin was an extremely handy man and could fix almost anything, he was very devoted to his work and even while not at work was always working on projects or tinkering in his shop. Family was extremely important to Mervin and he loved spending time with them and especially loved attending his grandkids sporting events cheering them on. When he wasn’t tinkering outside Mervin could be found enjoying his favorite western movies, playing cards with his brother-in-law, or planning their next camping trip.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Doris of Howells, children: Jerry Haase of Pender, Judy (Kevin) Jones of Ralston, Ne, Teresa Jenkins of Ceresco, Ne, Timmy Haase and Danny Haase both of Howells; sister Joan Jones of Wisner; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mervin is preceded in death by his parents Erwin and Olivia Haase, brothers-in-law Dallas Moeller and Frank Jones.
