Mary "Mae" Vodvarka

Memorial Mass for 88 year old Mary "Mae" Vodvarka, of Howells, will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 23rd at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. A private family interment service was held at the S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Mae died October 8, 2010 at Parkview Home in Dodge where she had been a resident since 2005. Mae was born February 10, 1922 in Howells to Anton and Josephine (Kuzel) Knipping. She was the second of four children and was raised and educated in Howells. Mae married Bohumil "Bud" Vodvarka February 15, 1944 at St. John's Catholic Church in Howells and they spent most of their married life in Howells where they raised their five children. She was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Parish, the American Legion Albin Folda Post #155 Auxiliary, the S.S. Peter and Paul Christian Mothers Society and the Howells Women's Club. Mae worked in the Howells Schools system for many years as a cook. Mae is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Frank Rodriguez of Central City, NE; daughter-in-law, Sharlene Vodvarka of Stanton; sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Marie Vodvarka of Lincoln, Dan and Rose Vodvarka of Lincoln and Don and Lynn Vodvarka of York; 12 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John and Darlene Knipping of Sun City, AZ. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bohumil (November 17, 2000); son, James ( December 18, 1991); two brothers, Lambert and Rudolph Knipping.
