Mary A. Weverka, 88 of Brainard, passed away on November 26, 2012 at David Place in David City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard with Father Matthew Eickhoff officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Viewing will be Thursday from 3-5pm at Holesovsky Mortuary in Brainard, then will resume from 6-7pm with a 7pm Rosary Service at the church. Viewing will continue Fri. from 9-10am at the church.
Mary A. (Slavik) Weverka, was born on January 23, 1924 to John and Clodie(Policky) Slavik near Bruno. On September 27, 1944 she was united in marriage to Henry Weverka at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. Together they farmed in Butler County until retiring and they moved to Brainard in 1986. Mary worked side by side with Henry. In 2007 she moved to David Place in David City.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the PCCW, and the Brainard Community Club. Mary enjoyed gardening canning, baking, sewing and mending, reading, and listening to Czech music. She also loved playing BINGO and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her sons; James(Rose) Weverka of Lincoln, Thomas(Faun) Weverka of Bruno, Norman(Karen) Weverka of Greenwood, and Henry(Marilyn) of Papillion, daughter; Geraldine(Leon) Jakub of Brainard, sister; Marcella(Bernard) Humlicek of David City, 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry Weverka in 2004, 1 granddaughter Toni(Weverka) Prochaska, 1 brother Albin Slavik, and 1 great-grandson Dustin Benes.
