On Thursday, April 17, 2014, Mary Margaret joined her late husband, William E. Tomek, Sr. taking her place with the Lord.
A Memorial Mass will be Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Bernard Kimminau officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.
As per the family's request, Mary was cremated.
Memorial have been suggested to "Family Wishes".
Mary Margaret was the daughter of Thomas and Grace (Keefe) Walsh, born June 19, 1919 in Creston, Iowa. After graduating from St. Joseph's Nursing School in Omaha, Mary served her country in WWII as a Lieutenant Navy Nurse. Following her honorable discharge from the Navy, she became an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, serving as treasurer for a number of years, as well as the school nurse for David City Public Schools. In April of 1947, she married William E. Tomek, Sr. Seven children were born to this union.
Mary Margaret is survived by her six children: Margaret, Bill, Jr., Maureen, Jeanne, Mariclaire, and Theresa; 13 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; William, Sr.; son: Mark Tomek; and brothers: Tom, Paul, and Leo Walsh.
