A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont for Mary J. Scribner, 98, who passed away Tues. Nov. 11th in Fremont. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 13th at the church from 5 to 7 P.M. followed by a Rosary at 7 P.M. Burial will be at 1:30 P.M. in the St. Patrick’s - Clyde Cemetery in rural Rogers, Nebraska.
Mary was born August 4, 1916 to Conrad and Elizabeth (Parr) Thiem. She attended school in Olean. She married Raymond Dostal on February 1, 1938 at Heun. They farmed south of Dodge, Nebraska. Her husband preceded her in death in August 1971. She married Fenton (Scrib) Scribner on June 22, 1974 in Schuyler. Scrib preceded her in death on April 10, 1994 and Mary moved to Fremont to be near her daughters. She became a resident of A.J. Merrick Manor in 2009. She is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont.
Survivors include four daughters, Darlene (Robert) Christensen, Diane Reichert Cottrell (Ross) of Fremont, Carol (Dan) Ruskamp of Dodge and Donna (Craig) Baker of Cortez, CO. Stepson David Scribner of David City and 2 step-daughters Donna Allen of David City and Carol (Ron) Vogeltanz of Maricopa, Arizona. 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, several step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren. Sisters-in-law Angie Dvorak and Arlene Dostal.
Mary is preceded in death by a son Delwyn, 2 sons-in-law, Ronald Reichert and Bernie Steffensmeier, 2 sisters Regina Thiem and Eleanor Novotany, 4 brothers, William, Rudy, Adolph and Martin.
