Mary Ann Duda, 96, of Linwood passed away Sunday, July 7, 2019 at her home.
Memorials can be directed towards Family Wishes.
Mary Ann Duda was born on July 21, 1922 on the family farm near Linwood to Frank J. and Anna (Walla) Barcal. She was a member of the 1940 graduating class of Linwood High School. On June 21, 1951, Mary Ann married Edward T. Duda at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. Edward, who had grown up just a half-mile down the road from Mary Ann, could always be found by Mary Ann’s side.
Before Edward’s passing, Mary Ann loved taking Sunday drives to visit state parks, art fairs, and discovering whatever happened to cross their paths. While living on the farm Mary Ann loved to mow the lawn, and was even known to mow areas that didn’t require her attention. She loved petting and feeding the cattle on the farm and loved her cats. Mary Ann could regularly be found tending to and admiring her flower and vegetable gardens which provided joy to so many.
Mary Ann loved native birds and flowers. It was not unusual for her to pull out a field guide to help identify flowers that she saw in the meadow and birds that she saw near the bird feeders located around their farm.
Mary Ann is survived by her children Edward F. (Kathy) Duda of Linwood and daughter Nancy (Saunders) Duffield and granddaughter Seychelle of Phoenix, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward T. in 2007, her sister Lillian Brezina, and an infant brother.
