Mary A. Bartek, 93, died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Mary A. Bartek was born on April 2, 1922 to Alois and Mary(Holchapek)Navratil at her parent's home just outside of Loma, Nebraska. . She attended grade school in Loma and went on to graduate from David City High School. On May 25, 1943 Mary was united in marriage to Theodore(Ted)Bartek at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Loma and the marriage was blessed with five children.
Mary was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and the church choir until moving to David City in 1976. She joined St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City where she was involved with the Catholic Daughters and a member of the adult choir. She was also a volunteer at Aquinas High School and worked at david place as a cook, retiring after 17 years of service. She was also a volunteer at the Bloodmobile and Senior Center where she served on the board for 3 years. She loved to volunteer and spend time playing cards and Bingo.
Mary is survived by her children, Dianne(Bill)Mach of Grand Island, Ne,. David(Mary Jane) of Leland, NC, Daryl of Des Moines, Ia, Dolly(Mark)Stara of Ulysses, Ne and Doug(Kay) of Lincoln, Ne, 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. one brother: Milo(Dolores)Navratil of Bee, Ne, and sisters-in-law: Marge Gubser and Clara Karpisek both of Lincoln and Bernice Houska of Wahoo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted , 3 brothers, Ernest, Joseph and Fr. Edmund Navratil and one sister: Margaret Kriz.
