Martin J. Novak, 83, of David City, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008 at David Place in David City.
Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with Pastor Mark Schutt officiating.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with family greeting friends and relatives from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Chermok Funeral Home in David City, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
Burial will be in the David City Cemetery.
Martin was born in Weston, Nebraska on March 30, 1925 to Anton and Frances (Benes) Novak, Sr. Following his service in the Army Air Corp, Martin completed his GED. On April 22, 1947, Martin married Helen Konrad. Martin worked as a mechanic on both automobiles and agricultural equipment.
Martin was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in David City. He passed on his love of the outside, especially hunting and fishing to his family. He enjoyed a good meal and spending time with his family. Martin taught his family what hard work will achieve.
Martin is survived by his wife, Helen, of David City; sons: Larry (Terry) Novak of David City, and Richard (Diana) Novak of Gretna; daughter: Patsy (Milton) Kobza of David City; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; brother Anton Novak, Jr,; sisters Lillian Buresh and Anna Novak; and great grandson Adam Thomas Kobza.
Memorials are suggested to the David City Senior Center.
