Martha Magdeline(Zavodny) Behne was born to Paul and Bessie(Cernohlavek) Zavodny on July 18, 1933 on the farm near Brainard. She went to join the Lord and her family on December 31, 2015, at the age of 82 years.
Martha graduated from Brainard High School in 1951. On September 22, 1953 she was united in marriage to Donald Behne at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. They lived on a farm outside Brainard her entire life. Martha worked at Lemke Locker Plant, in Brainard, Henningsen Foods, in David City, and Platte Valley Onion Plant, in Wahoo for over 20 years.
She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, PCCW, Altar Society, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #273. Martha was an avid gardener, that cooked and canned all she grew. She was a homemaker that loved baking and cooking, whether it was a a meal or kolaches for her entire family and friends.
Martha is survivied by her husband of 62 years: Don; children: Donald(Patricia) Behne, Duane Behne, Douglas(Tiffany) Behne, Darlene(Tom) Trojan, Denise(Nathan) Schroeder, and David Behne and friend Sharon; sister-in-laws: Helen(Leonard) Zavodny, Libbie(Jim) Zavodny; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Rudy, Jim, Emil, Raymond, Joe, Leonard; sisters: Lillian(Joe) Topil, Ameila(Gabriel) Dvorak, Evelyn(Max) Kliment, Gladyce(George) Prochaska; and daughter-in-law: Cindy(Stonewall) Behne.
