Mark Brandhorst, 71, of David City, passed away February 15, 2016 at St. Joseph's Villa in David City.
Mark was born on January 8, 1945 to Carl Sr. and Louise(Koeneke) Brandhorst, in Seward, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Barbara (Meysenburg) Vavra in November of 1984, in Seward, Nebraska. Mark worked as a truck driver and as night security at Hughes Brothers until retirement.
He loved cars, especially corvettes. Mark enjoyed playing cards with his friends, Husker football, history, and dancing. He was a world traveler, followed his sons music, and enjoyed spending time with his family and attending the grandkids' activities.
Mark is survived by children: Randy Vavra, of Bellwood, Re'Nee (Pete) Palensky, of Schuyler, and Tina King, of Oklahoma; sisters: Charlotte (Don) Rohren, Olivia (Joe) Ishikawa; Adaline Costello; Ellen (Chick) Wiesenhan; 6 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife: Barbara on 7-1-2015; brothers: Carl Jr. and Curt Brandhorst; sister: Dorothy Johnston; and son: Ricky Vavra.
