Marie Kozisek, 100, of David City died Tuesday, February 27, at St. Joseph's Villa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the Church with a Parish Rosary at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with lunch following at the Butler County Event Center. Chermok Funeral Home is handling arrangements for Marie's family.
Marie Kozisek was born to Piet Peters and Minnie Jacobs on January 20, 1924, near Garrison,
Nebraska. She graduated from David City High School in 1942. On February 11, 1947, Marie was
united in marriage to Joseph Kozisek at St. Mary’s Catholic in David City. This day was
particularly special as her sister, Dorothy, joined her for a double wedding marrying Carl Zegers.
Joe and Marie had three children.
Marie worked as a laundry attendant at David’s Place for over 30 years. Prior to that, she
worked for Hoffbauer Cleaners. She loved to sew and crochet. She had various projects she
worked on, including crocheting hats for babies and her great-grandchildren as well as afghans
for nieces, nephews, and many family members. Marie loved to do word searches and color.
She never missed a craft done at St. Joseph’s Villa. Marie was a lifelong member at St. Mary’s
Church in David City and enjoyed attending mass every Saturday night.
Marie is survived by her children: Jim (Sherry) Kozisek, Dave (Robin) Kozisek, and Barbara (Greg)
Boggs, 3 Grandchildren: Michael (Katy) Boggs, Stephen (Chelsey) Boggs, and Nicole Razey, 6
great-grandchildren, brother, Paul Peters, sister Virginia Brockevelt, sisters-in-law Norma Jean
Peters and Mary Henrichson, brother-in-law, Fred Kozisek, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe in 2017, parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
