Marianne Jean (Pimper) Baumert, 88, of Howells passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 in Omaha.

Marianne was born on December 16, 1929 in Howells, Nebraska. She graduated from Howells High School in 1947. After high school she attended school in Omaha and worked at the telephone company. On June 12, 1950 Marianne married James (Jim) H. Baumert at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. Jim and Marianne became owners of Baumert Furniture Inc. in 1956, which remains in business today
Marianne was an active member in her community throughout her life. She was the chairman for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for over 50 years and a member of the GFWC Howells Woman Club for 67 years. She was also involved in the Howells Card Club, Howells Community Club, and Howells Council of Catholic Women.
Marianne’s number one priority was her family. She lit up when she shared stories about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to read, crochet, cook, and play pinochle. She was known for her homemade dumplings and insured there was no shortages of kolaches at every family event. She loved music from the Big Band era and to dance polka and waltzes.
Marianne is survived by her husband James H. Baumert; children: Deanne (Gary) Ernesti of Omaha, Gary (Bernadine) Baumert, Debra (Dave) Blum, and Christine (Daylin) Risch, all of Howells; brother: Dennis (Erika) Pimper of Brigham City, UT; 20 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph and Agnes (Chudomelka) Pimper, daughter Kathy Gooch, grandson Jeffrey Ernesti, granddaughter Brenda Baumert and great-grandson Brevin Blum.
