Margaret L Polivka, 93, of Brainard, passed away on February 27, 2014 at David Place in David City.
The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, March 1, 2014, at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Matthew Eickhoff officiating. Viewing will be Saturday from 9:30-10:30am followed by a 10:30am Rosary Service at the church. Burial will be in the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery.

Margaret L Polivka was born November 18, 1920 to Joseph and Eleanore(Marushak) Ourada on the farm near Prague, Nebraska. She arrived before the doctor could get there. She graduated from Brainard High School, then went on to work in a retail store in Omaha. Margaret married Leonard on October 14, 1950 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Omaha. A son and daughter were born to this union.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity PCCW, and the Pink Sister's Auxiliary. Margaret raised gardens and chickens, and took special care of the farm cats. She enjoyed baking, especially rolls and kolaches for family. She was humble about her talents and strong in her faith. She was content with life's simple pleasures and being with family. Margaret and Leonard loved listening to Czech music together. She and Leonard also enjoyed a trip of a lifetime in late 1980s to Czechoslovakia to experience the rich culture of their heritage. Margaret enjoyed spending time with and helping with her grandsons. They remember her cheerfulness, laughter and vacation to Disney Land.
Margaret is survived by her husband: Leonard; son: David Polivka of Brainard; daughter: Marilyn (Dahlas) Baalhorn of Lincoln; sister: Gertrude (Leo) Hladik of Colorado; two grandsons: Brett and Riley Baalhorn; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brother: Victor (Helen) Ourada.
