Marcy M. Svoboda, 88, of David City died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Viewing will be Friday, May 16, 2014 at Chermok Funeral Home from 12-7pm. The family will be greet friends and family from 5-7pm.
Viewing will resume, Saturday, from 11:30-12:30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Marcy M. Svoboda was born on April 24, 1926 on the farm near Loma, NE to Joseph and Mary(Houdek)Petrzilka. She gradauted from David City High School in 1944 and went on to obtain her teaching certificate. She taught for several years. Marcy married Rudy A. Svoboda on June 5, 1946 at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Loma. Four children were born to this union. She later went to work at St. Joseph;s Villa in laundry and housekeeping and eventually became a certified nursing assistant. She later went to work in the Butler County Hospital in housekeeping and then in Central Supply. She also helped out running detassling crews.
Marcy was a member of St. Mary's Church, the PCCW, Catholic Daughters of America, and maintained a holy hour for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Ladies and was the current President of the David City Museum. She enjoyed scrapbooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Marcy is survived by her husband, Rudy, daughters: Ila Gabel of Lincoln, Jan(Don)Broeker of Kearney, Bonnie(Duane)Broeker of Garland and Kim(Mark)Hughes of Ft. Collins, CO, one brother: Joe Petrzilka of Lincoln and Deloris(Milo)Navratil of Bee, Ne, 9 grandchildren: Scott Gabel, Mandy Shaw, Kalan Root, Kendra Hammond, Sarah Hall, Nathan Broeker, Nolan Shore, Taeja Shore and Madison Shore, 9 great-grandchildren: Jaylee Shaw, Brayden Shaw, Tenley Root, Quinton Root, Kaden Broeker, Jace Hammond, Paisley Hammond, JaRae Nickolite, and Serenity Shore.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson: Craig Broeker and one sister; Adeline Geiger.
