Marcella Waters

Funeral Mass for 89 year old Marcella Waters of Mesa, AZ (formerly of Schuyler) will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. Visitation will be held at the Svoboda Funeral Home North Chapel on Monday from 5 PM to 7 PM and on Tuesday from 9 Am to 10:15 AM. Combined parish and Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 Pm on Monday at the North Chapel. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Marcella was born January 20, 1925 in the North Bend area of Dodge County, to Charles and Olga (Haun) Emanuel. She attended District 52 grade school in Dodge County and graduated from Fremont High School and attended the Commercial Extension Business School in Omaha. On September 1, 1952 she married James Leo Waters at the Catholic Church in North Bend and they farmed in the Schuyler area until moving to Mesa, AZ in 1990. Marcella was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa. Marcella died September 9, 2014 at the Banner Garden Hospice House in Mesa following a broken pelvis suffered two weeks earlier and a massive stroke.

Marcella is survived by her husband, James of Mesa, AZ; sister, Cecilia Powers of Lincoln; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles F. Emanuel; sister, Anne Colborn.

Family suggest memorial to St. Augustine’s Catholic Church or Holy Cross Cemetery.
