Marcel Eugene Matousek, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday , April 15, 2019, at Countryside Home in Madison, NE.
Marcel was born September 23, 1927 northwest of Rising City to John A. and Agnes (Mazanec) Matousek.
He grew up in the Rising City area, attending Blue Mound Rural and Rising City High School, graduating in 1945.
After Marcel returned home from the US Army, he met his bride-to-be, at an Easter Dance at the Parish Hall in Shelby, NE. They started dating after that. Marcel married Mardell DeTurk at the Evangelical United Brethern Church in Shelby on November 29, 1948.
He farmed with his wife and family for 45 years in the area north of Rising City, also serving as Director of Butler County Public Power District for 15 years.
In 1993, Marcel and Mardell retired and moved to Columbus.
Marcel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shelby, a member of Composite Lodge #81, A.F. and A.M., American Legion, Eagles #1834 and Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars #3704.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John A. and Agnes Matousek. Sisters, Wilma Rech, Evelyn Peterson, and Dorothy Behnken. And his wife of 69 years, Mardell.
Survivors include three sons,
Mick (Bonnie) of Oregon, Blake (Kathy) of Kansas, John of New York.
Six grandchildren: Heather (Tyler) Pedersen, Heidi Fuller, Josh (Katie) Matousek, Marcus (Suzie) Matousek, Caleb (Hannah) Matousek, & Alyssa (Seth) Sander.
Twelve Great grandchildren.
