Private funeral service was held for 87 year old Louis V. Sindelar, of Howells, at 1:30 PM on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at the Svoboda Funeral Home in Schuyler with Father Leo Rigatuso officiating. Burial was in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery at Dodge. Louis died August 24, 2010 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Louis was born January 22, 1923 on a farm in Colfax County to Louis R. and Tillie (Svitak) Sindelar. He attended Colfax County rural school and Howells High School. Louis married Arley Vcelik on February 26, 1946 in Dodge and they farmed southeast of Howells. He was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells. He loved his farm and stayed active on the farm until his health no longer permitted it. Louis served on the Colfax County Conservation Board and his farm was recognized for his conservation practices. He also had managed the swine testing station at Clarkson for Farmland Industries. He was also active in 4H. Louis was a long time member of several bowling leagues in Howells and Dodge and served as an officer in those leagues. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping and was a member of the Isaac Walton League / West Point Sportsmen. Louis is survived by sons, David (Carol) of Kansas City, MO and Roland of Omaha; daughter. Susan (Mrs. Dallas) Brandt of Wayne; granddaughters, Christie Korker and Amber Sindelar both of Jupiter, FL; three great grandchildren, Paige, Alexandrea and Logan. He is preceded in death by his wife, Arley (January 11, 2008) and his parents.
