Leonard was born January 22, 1923 in Howells to Adolph and Barbara (Pojar) Buresh. He attended Howells Public School and graduated in 1940. While in the Army during WW II (January 15, 1943 to December 29, 1945) he served as a Radio Technician in the Philippines, Japan and New Guinea. Leonard married Pearl Gearhart in Omaha on June 24, 1950 and they made their home south of Howell where Leonard farmed and raises pigs. He loved being a grandpa and great grandpa, farming, working with the pigs and both vegetable and flower gardening. After he retired he enjoyed making and sampling desserts, playing cards and attending craft shows with Pearl. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Last Man's Club, the Catholic Workmen and he had been very active in the Highway 81-91 Pork Producers. Leonard died October 20, 2010, at the age of 87, at Parkview Home in Dodge where he had been a resident for only a few days. Leonard is survived by his wife, Pearl of Howells; three sons, Joe A. Buresh of Phoenix City, Alabama, Mark L. Buresh and special friend Janelle Lohneyer of Dodge and Bruce Buresh and special friend, Kathy Stout of South Sioux City, NE; five grandchildren, Krista (Mrs. Dustin) Hill, Adam (Megan) Buresh, Casey Buresh, Collin Buresh and Benjamin Buresh; six great grandchildren; one sister, Arlene (Mrs. Jim) Jirsak of Omaha; two brothers, Robert (Bernadine) Buresh of Fremont and Clarence Buresh of Midland, TX; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by one infant grandson; one sister, Marvine Dvorak. Family suggest memorial to the American Cancer Society. Funeral lunch will be served at St. John's Catholic School.
