Funeral Services for Leo R. Adamy who died December 15, 2007 at David Place in David City will be 10:30 am Thursday, December 20, 2007 at Presentation Church in Bellwood. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 19th at Presentation Church, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
Leo (identical twin of Leonard) was born September 6, 1920 in Bellwood. He graduated from Bellwood High School. He entered the Army 15th Air Force Unit on November 2, 1942, and served as a tail gunner on a B-24 Liberator. He flew 32 missions. His plane was hit while on a target at Giurgin, Romania, while attacking enemy oil reserves. He parachuted into Bulgaria and was a Prisoner of War (POW) at Camp Chouman, Bulgaria from July 3, 1944 until his release September 19, 1944. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was discharged on September 10, 1945.
On January 28, 1946 Leo married Mary Pelan, only child of Edward and Mary Agnes (Coufal) Pelan , at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus. Leo farmed in Bellwood.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Bellwood, sons and daughters-in-law: Patrick of Columbus, Carroll (Deb) of Bellwood, Gerald of Bellwood and John (Amy) of Columbus; brother: Robert F. of David City; 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Frank and Leonard and sister: Delores Margrave.
