Leander Brester, 91, of Howells passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Clarkson Community Care Center.

Leander George Brester was born on July 5, 1927 on the family farm near Olean to Louis and Mary (Krienert) Brester. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. After returning from Korea he met Delma Heimann and the couple was married on August 27, 1953 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells.
Leander farmed for a number of years after his discharge from the army and trucked for 41 years for area trucking companies. He served on the Howells Rescue squad for 20 years and was an active member of the Albin Folda Legion Post #155. After retirement Leander enjoyed joining his friends for their daily coffee group, traveling and taking bus trips with Delma, and taking care of his garden and lawn. His family held a special place in his heart and was very important to him.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Delma of Howells; his children: Dave (Martha) Brester of Omaha; Tom Brester of Long Island, KS; Mary (Rick) Mckern of Niceville, FL; Ann (Joe) Ruzek of Dodge; Pat Brester (Kathy Musil) of Howells; Laurie Kaiser of Lincoln; LeRoy (Emily) Brester of Gilbert, AZ; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brother John Brester and sister-in-law Margret Brester.
Leander is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: George, Joe, and Gilbert; sisters: Bernadine Renner, Odelia Faltys, and Sister Martha Brester and grandson JT McKern.
