LaVerne A. (Anderly) Novacek, 88, widow of Victor, formerly of Bruno, died Thursday, May 16th, 2019.
LaVerne was born August 20, 1930 on the farm near Dwight to John & Marie (Policky) Anderly. She attended local schools, graduating from Dwight Public School. She worked several years at Hilltop Cafe near Brainard, Marge’s Bar in Bruno, Bosh in Schuyler, Metromail in Seward, and she was a cook at David City Public Schools.
LaVerne married Victor Novacek on August 30th, 1949. Four children were born to this union. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Altar Society in Bruno.
She enjoyed her Czech heritage, baking kolaches, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate jelly roll. Her & Victor followed all their grand children’s sports & school activities. She loved all sports in general, but, especially Nebraska Volleyball. You could always find her working a crossword puzzle or crocheting.
LaVerne is survived by her sons: Greg (Deb) Novacek of Seward, Rick (Julie) Novacek of Brainard, and daughter-in-law Cheryl Novacek of Valparaiso, one brother-in-law Bernard Bartunek, 7 Grandchildren: Brad (Martha) Novacek, Aaron (Laura) Novacek, Rachel (Daniel) Houston, Chad (Stephanie) Novacek, Niki (Trevor) Zitek-Svoboda, Jamie (Shane) Johnson, Heather (Shane) Sisel, 13 Great-grandchildren: Everest Novacek; Wyatt, Garett & Emma Houston; Isaiah, Cora, & Keaton Novacek; Kallie & Lucas Zitek; Kinley Svoboda; Bennet & Kacie Johnson; and Landon Sisel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Victor in 2013, two sons, Victor Jr. & Leland and grandson-in-law James Zitek.
