Larry Morton, 88 of Linwood, formerly of Omaha passed away at his home on April 1, 2025.
Memorials will be directed to the family for later designation.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 7, 2025 at 10:00am at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Abie, Nebraska. Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 3-5pm at Svoboda Moravec Johnson Mortuary in Schuyler. Interment with military honors will be at S.S. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery following the Mass. Lunch will be at the church hall following the burial. Svoboda Moravec Johnson is handling the services.
Larry was born on June 19, 1936 to Lawrence and Winifred(Paddock) Morton in Omaha, Nebraska, and moved to Linwood in 1996. When he was 17 he was drafted into the US Marines and served for 8 years. He did basic training at Camp Legeune in North Carolina and served in the Korean War. Larry worked as an Engineer in the Dry-Cleaning Textile Industry. He was so proud when he got his GED at 70 yrs old.
Larry was very active in his life. He owned and trained thoroughbred race horses. Larry raced stock cars at the Playland Speedway in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and he played professional hockey for the Omaha Knights.
He is survived by his life partner and care giver: Patty; sons: Mike Morton, Sr., and Mark (Cece) Morton; daughter: Debbie (Drew) Laughlin; and many grandchildren.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings.
